Sir Balin is an early-mid game gambit hero that deals huge damage due to his Spectral Blitz. His Spectral Blitz deals both gambit and spell damage. By the way it is still a gambit attack so Spectral Blitz can be dodged.
One interesting thing is that when Sir Balin hits enemy swordsmen or gladiators in their defense mode, he can damage them with thespell part of his gambit. That gives you a big advantage against strong defenses even you use a full gambit formation or a spell-gambit formation.
His unit type allows you to put him in front of your formation as he gets reduced damage, so he is a little tanky. Due to his high bravery his best is in the lvl 30 region. Later, his defense will be the most important thing, even though Spectral Blitz is very powerful, his low tactics and magic will say their word. Is up to you if you decide to invest in this herio as it grants very good defense and an overall good gambit attack, but you will have to buy all gears for him (you can throw.the weapon if you want to spend less silver but the horse and the staff are a must). Some good formations for him are Trident, Mallet and Oblique.
